Unit 4 Assignment 2

Of the five interviewees, there is a social worker, an engineer, a Vehicle Customization Specialist, a Pastor and a Material Control Supervisor in the oil industry. These occupation do not seem to have much in common, however, they have more than you think.
All of these occupations require you to interact with clients. It is how you interact with them that is different. Social Workers, as well as Engineers and Vehicle Customization Specialists must meet with a client to discuss what is to be done.  The social worker interviewed must go to the client’s residence, and discuss with both the client, as well as their care-taker, about what the next step is for the client, including how to cope with the passing of said client in the near future. This is an external interaction with a client, just as the Engineer and Vehicle Customization Specialist must have. Engineers must meet with clients to discuss design plans, or contracts for materials, labor, etc. A Vehicle Customization Specialist must meet with a client to discuss the design plans for the vehicle, and pricing for the customization.
The Pastor also has external interaction with “clients”, however it is through preaching to an audience, rather than discussing design plans, or plans for the future. On the other hand, the Material Control Supervisor in the oil industry interacts with clients through the company, rather than directly speaking to the client their self.
As far as what is done throughout the day, each job is different. The Social Worker spends their day meeting clients at their homes, spending most of that time sitting down driving or talking. There is also the hours of sitting down to do paper work. The same goes for the engineer, with the exception of the time spent out in the field for various reasons.
The Vehicle Customization Specialist spend their day working on the client’s vehicle, as well as sitting at a desk doing paper work, and discussing design plans with the client. They must also supervise their employees, and make sure that all is going according to plan. As for the Pastor, they spend their day preaching to an audience, as well as creating presentations to go along with what they are preaching, this means sitting down for a large amount of time to create the presentation.
The Material Control Supervisor spends most of their day sitting at a desk doing paper work, and supervising the movement of materials. This requires them to keep a record of the exact number of each part, and record every movement of those parts.
